Impacting Our Community as Grantmaker and Resource

I hope you have been enjoying the mild days this winter as much as I have. It makes it seem like spring is just around the corner.

Here at the Foundation we continue with our work to impact our community as grantmaker and resource to nonprofits in our region—just two of the various roles we play. You will see evidence of this in this month’s newsletter.

There are two stories this month on the work our grantees have done since receiving their awards. The Arts & Culture grant to Concord Players enabled them to better serve their elderly population with new hearing assistance devices. The challenge grant from the Foundation’s English Family Fund has given the Restoration Project the resources needed to begin a pilot program addressed to returning veterans.

News coverage continues both for the Foundation and for some of our grantees, and we share that with you this month as well. Our Youth In Philanthropy program has received recognition beyond Massachusetts. And we were pleased to see that Family Support grantee Framingham Adult ESL and Youth In Philanthropy grantee Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding were featured prominently in articles in the Boston Globe.

Everyday we hear more about the wonderful work being done in MetroWest and we are proud of the part we play to keep our communities strong. But there is still much more to be done, particularly in the area of family support.

This year we will continue to work hard to grow the resources of the MetroWest Fund for Families so we can better serve our most vulnerable citizens. With your support we can increase our grantmaking in this important area and make more of an impact. Please contact me to learn more about how you can assist with this effort.

Best regards,

Judith Salerno
