Community Leadership Reception 2023

Join the Community Foundation for MetroWest at the 10th annual Community Leadership Reception as we commemorate the inaugural year of the MetroWest Workforce Development Project.

The MetroWest Workforce Development Project focuses on income inequality that persists in the MetroWest and provides a path to financial stability for under resourced youth and underemployed or unemployed adults. Join us to hear stories of impact from the project’s first year and how the programs being funded are increasing access to well-paying and high-demand jobs.

At the event we will also honor the unwavering generosity of Yale Appliance, and Christine Schuster, President & CEO of Emerson Health System, as they receive our 2023 Community Leadership Awards.

The Yale Appliance Company began as one storefront on Portland Street in Boston in 1923. One hundred years later it has become three storefronts with locations in Dorchester, Hanover and Framingham. Behind the success of the company, is a dedication to improving the lives of people where they work and live.

Without a “road map” their philanthropic efforts began with donations to different “galas” or participating in their own and other charity events. For instance, the Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day for the brave. Or charity hockey games where the company hockey team, Yale Burners, took on the Bruins Legends. Yale was hopelessly overmatched, but charity can be fun and humbling all at the same time.

Another event with personal ties is the very successful golf tournaments for Jett Foundation. Their work for children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is truly inspiring!

The Yale Foundation is now guided by their mission: “The Yale Foundation considers proposals focusing on capital projects and purchases for programs directly impacting clients in need.” This includes veterans, the elderly, minors and the homeless population in the Boston, South Shore and MetroWest Communities.

Throughout Yale’s hundred years, the company has been carrying on the “giving” mindset. This was established by the greatest group of philanthropists – their grandparents and parents.

The Yale Foundation has the honor of helping truly great organizations and has met incredible people on their giving journey.

We are grateful to Yale for including us on that journey and for their continued commitment to the Foundation for MetroWest.
