Development Associate

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Associate has the responsibility of raising new gifts to the Foundation for new donors. S/he will work with the Development Director to create new business/fundraising opportunities that identify and attract new and significant contributions to the Foundation.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate the professional advisor community (i.e. attorneys, accountants, wealth management advisors, investment advisors) to increase quantity and quality of donor referrals through presentations at professional advisor firms, one-on-one meetings with advisors, attending and hosting professional advisor networking events
  • Cultivate the corporate/business community. Identify opportunities to work with corporations on Foundation programming, events and promotional activities.
  • Assist in staffing and coordinating the Foundation’s Professional Advisor Committee and Development Committee
  • With the PA committee develop Foundation programs and events.
  • With Foundation marketing staff develop PA marketing and communications plan and content for newsletters.
  • Attend MetroWest networking events, civic organization events and identify opportunities to meet and present the Foundation’s services

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with continuing professional development of fundraising and non-profit management.
  • 3-5 years successful professional work experience in sales of financial products or development and fundraising.
  • Successful track record of making “cold calls” to prospective donors/clients
  • Knowledge of investment products
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Skill and experience with database management software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organization skills, excellent written communication skills
  • Resourceful and able to work independently
  • Mature interpersonal style, ability to interact well with diverse range of people
  • Knowledge of and connection to the MetroWest community
  • Must be willing to work and attend evening events

Volunteer Needed:

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to help with our office administration. If you are a cheerful, dependable person able to help us one morning a week, we’d like to hear from you. Tasks will include data entry, filing, mailings, and special projects. Familiarity with and comfort using computers, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel are necessary.
