Summer Institute for
Youth Leadership

"The Summer Institute for Youth Leadership is awesome! I learned how nonprofits work and that I can help improve my community by being philanthropic and getting more involved. Everybody can take away something very useful from this program."

- Summer Institute for Youth Leadership Participant

The Summer Institute for Youth Leadership is designed for teenagers who are looking to make an impact in their community. This fun, four-day summer program introduces students to the importance of active community involvement. Along the way participants discover a keen awareness of their own potential and develop the skills necessary to become successful leaders. Similar to our Youth in Philanthropy program, participants work as a team to award a grant to the nonprofit of their choice.

Led by trained instructors, students:
Learn about how to evaluate local nonprofit organizations and develop their own leadership skills through fun group exercises
Enjoy outdoor activities and breaks with snacks!
Hear from professional expert guest speakers about real-world skills including how to create a resume or balance a checkbook
Work on team building skills to award a donation to the nonprofit of their choice
Spend a full day at site visits to local nonprofit organizations
Present their nonprofit donation choice to a panel for approval- parents invited!

Tuition includes lunch, snacks, transportation to/from site visits, and a t-shirt.
